August 6, 2024 Medtronic at DEF CON 2024

Join us for an exciting week of learning, hacking, and engagement.

We are thrilled to announce that Medtronic will be participating in another year of the BioHacking Village at DEF CON 32. The conference will take place from August 8 to August 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and we cannot wait to engage with security researchers and other participants of the one of the world’s most prestigious hacking conferences.

Why we are going to DEF CON

At Medtronic, patient safety is a non-negotiable. We engineer products to be resilient in the worst real-world conditions and as part of that work, we are always looking for ways to enhance the safety and reliability of our products. That is why we sponsor the Biohacking Village and are proud to participate at DEF CON — to learn from the best hackers and researchers in the industry, to share our insights and best practices, and to collaborate on solving the most challenging security problems in healthcare.

What we are going to do at DEF CON

This year, we are excited to announce that we are bringing the Hugo™ robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) system and our next generation automated insulin delivery system to the Biohacking Village.

The Hugo™ RAS System and the next generation automated insulin delivery system, both pre-market devices, will be in the Devices Lab throughout the conference to give the community first-hand experience with medical devices and learn more about their security postures.

In addition to participating in the Biohacking Village, we will be bringing engineers from across the company to attend DEF CON as participants. We do so to foster a security culture dedicated to learning about emerging technologies and techniques. This allows us to stay up to date with the changing landscape of security so that we can better secure our products and protect patients.

Overall, we believe that by working and collaborating with the DEF CON community, we can make a positive impact on securing the healthcare industry together and strengthen the healthcare security culture to meet challenges of an increasing connected healthcare ecosystem.
